Chamballa in the Deepdark

In the Deepdark, Chamballa is one of the most important goddesses, and is seen as a central maternal figure throughout the Setting, where she is worshiped as a goddess of fertility and life and as the matriarch of the Divinatrix.

In the Deepdark, Chamballa has several Avatars, all of whom go under the name Chamballa. When scholars distinguish them however, the following are noted:

Position

Chamballa is perceived as a maternal figure for the entire Deepdark pantheon, and she is even called the All-Mother. She is by far the single most universally revered deity in the Deepdark. Along with her brother, Argon, she is the oldest member of the Deepdark pantheon, which is called the Divinatrix. She and Argon have another sibling, Firgraun, who is seen as a significantly lesser member of the pantheon. Chamballa is furthermore married to a god named Per, worshiped as a god of nature and secrecy throughout the Deepdark. Their children and other relations are the basis for most of the remaining Divinatrix: Barrabia, Hazia, Josumme, Nutrollian, Uddria and Zimbom. Tanillia is said to be Argon, Chamballa and Firgraun's aunt, though scholars strongly dispute that characterization as a matter of historical record.

On the surface, Chamballa is widely worshiped in Crikland, as a goddess of storms and destruction. She has small pockets of followers in this guide throughout the Northern Kingdoms. Her expansion onto the Surface is a relatively recent phenomenon; as recently as 9965, her worshipers outside of the Deepdark were almost exclusively the pond rainids directly above it.

Tenders, or Chamballine Tenders, are the primary priestly class of Chamballa. They are pastoral druids, well-acquainted with all the life of the Deepdark. They have the innate ability of never being attacked by animals in the Deepdark, though intelligent creatures and monsters are still a threat. They are well-trained in aquaculture, and wander the Deepdark helping farmers learn their craft. They gain a +4 to aquaculture at 1st level, and an additional +2 at every level after that. They can cast clerical healing spells or spells related to assisting with aquaculture at twice their actual level.

Female paladin warriors of Chamballa, the Paladines are a feared order of knights. They wander the Deepdark in small groups of 3-6, fighting against evil, especially the tyrannical empire of Jallentois. They receive weapon proficiency, mastery and weapon finesse at bonus feats at their respective levels, and an additional +1 to hit and damage per level of the Paladine.

Champions

  • The Princess of Federrix was rainid royalty in an ancient kingdom in what is now Chandradajja. She abandoned her life of nobility to join her father's army, eschewing her birthright, and led her people to victory. Though the kingdom is now long dead, she remains a Champion of Chamballa, and is occasionally seen battling for good causes anywhere in the Setting.
